DV-1394 Device Compatibility Table
|
DV-1394
device compatibility |
This
section provides information about all DV-1394 devices
tested by Matrox and determined to be compatible with
RT2000. Please note that some devices don't support
advanced features such as device control and batch
capture in Adobe Premiere. Matrox will continue to test
these devices and try to resolve these issues. As well,
Matrox will test new devices as they become available.
Please check this section frequently for updated
information.
Important
To ensure that your DV-1394 device works correctly with
Matrox RT2000, you must install Service Pack 2 for
RT2000 V1.0, and update to the latest Texas Instruments
driver. Some Canon devices, however, require you to use
an earlier version of the Texas Instruments driver (as
indicated in the "Comments" section for those
devices). You can download Service Pack 2 and the Texas
Instruments drivers from the RT2000
Downloadable Files section.
We've
tested devices made by Canon,
JVC, Panasonic,
Sharp,
and Sony.
A list of incompatible
devices appears at the end of the tables.
Explanations of the comments about specific devices and definitions
of the different table headings are available at the
bottom of the page.

Incompatible
DV-1394 devices |
We
tested the following DV-1394 devices and determined that
they are incompatible with RT2000 because they failed
all capture and printing to tape tests over the 1394
interface in Adobe Premiere. Matrox performs these tests
on a regular basis and updates the tables of compatible
and incompatible devices accordingly. Please check our
web site regularly for updated information.

A
|
Panning
slowly when capturing in Camera mode causes a
wrap-around effect in the captured clip (that is,
the image is shifted and split vertically). This
problem does not affect capturing in VCR mode. |
B |
When
capturing clips with audio using this device,
background audio noise may be present in your
captured clip. Matrox is presently investigating
this issue. As a workaround, you can capture the
analog output from the device instead of
capturing audio over the 1394 interface. |
C |
After
using the Pause command, the first frame
displayed is corrupted (the captured video is
fine). |
D |
For
this device to work correctly with RT2000, you
must install the Texas Instruments version 3.1.0
driver instead of the latest driver. You can
download the required Texas Instruments driver
from the RT2000
Downloadable Files section. |
E |
Device
control is slow to respond (delay of about one
second). |
F |
The
device control can stop responding without
notice. |
G |
Frame
Advance and Frame Reverse are very slow (delay
of about eight seconds). |
H |
The
device is frame-accurate on short captures only
(less than 30 seconds). When batch capturing
longer clips, the frame accuracy may be off by 4
to 10 frames. |
I |
This
is a European model that does not support DV
input for printing to tape. For more information,
contact the device's manufacturer. |
J |
When
you manually capture a clip, there is a delay of
about 10 seconds before the capture starts. |
|
The
following are definitions of terms used in the above
tables. |
Video
Standard
|
Specifies
whether the tested device uses the NTSC or PAL video
standard. |
Manual
Capture |
You
can manually operate the device to capture clips over
the 1394 interface using Adobe Premiere. |
Batch
Capture |
You
can use Adobe Premiere's batch capture feature to create
a list of In and Out points of clips from the same tape
and have Premiere control the device to perform
unattended capture of the clips. |
Print to Tape |
You
can record DV material from Adobe Premiere onto DV tape
over the 1394 interface. |
Device
Control |
The
device can be controlled remotely to capture clips and
record material onto DV tape in Adobe Premiere. |
Frame
Accurate |
The
device can find the exact time code at which you want to
start and stop capturing a clip using device control in
Adobe Premiere (that is, capture starts at your selected
In point and stops at your selected Out point). |
