NOTE: Shown above with
optional SuperNova 350 lighting system. This housing is also available
for the professional version of the VX2000 sold as the Sony PD150.
Since the PD150 has a slightly different handle incorporating XLR
audio connectors, the housing configuration may be slightly different
- contact AquaVideo for further info.
Designed for the most discriminating
underwater videographer, the AVMC-VX2000 is a rugged, reliable, high
quality Marine Case for the Sony VX2000 3-chip MiniDV digital
camcorder.. Suitable for wet weather, water sports, and underwater
video applications to depths of 50 meters/175 feet, it is compact,
easy to set up, and easy to use. The Sony VCL-HG0758 High Resolution
Wide Angle Converter lens used with the underwater case nearly doubles
the angle of view -- for dramatically clearer, more colorful
underwater pictures.
The dome port optical system corrects
for distortions and aberrations that would otherwise occur, yet the
full focus correction allows true, magnified macro and zooming
functions &endash; without having to change lenses or optical
setup. An underwater color correction filter is also included that
restores a natural color balance, for rich saturated colors -- even at
depth.
For greater depths, night diving, wreck
diving, etc. -- a battery compartment inside the housing allows the
use of a high powered (75 to 350 watts) underwater lighting system (available
as an option) &endash; providing an incredibly compact, completely
professional system for use in any conditions.
One of the most important features of
the AVMC-VX2000 is the use of patented X-ring seal technology. The
X-ring seal provides double sealing for extremely high reliability.
In addition, the clear
endplates allow the user to clearly see the seals to easily verify
that the seal has been made - before entering the water.
The clear backplate also
allows full visibility of the VX2000's LCD screen &endash;
providing ease of use and viewfinder visibility that is unprecedented
in a professional quality underwater system. Because the screen is set
back several inches inside the housing it does not suffer the glare
problems associated with previous LCD viewing systems (glare is also a
very significant problem on some competing housings which use a mirror
on the outside
of the housing). In effect the entire AquaVideo housing is working as
a shade for the monitor.
Note: the pictures shown are
of the back of a Canon GL1 housing but the viewfinder visibility on
the VX2000 almost exactly the same.

(High Resolution Wide Angle
Converter:
$600.00 - wide converter is required for normal underwater operation.)
Optional SuperNova lighting systems:
$1200 - 3999 depending on configuration. Available in 75, 250, and 350
watt configurations.
